Emergency Services

Emergency Departments Never Close

That’s the thing about emergencies - they don’t come on schedule. Physicians and registered nurses staff our hospital emergency department 24 hours a day, every day.

If there is a medical emergency in your home your first call should be to 9-1-1.

Remodeled and enlarged in 2008, the department has been updated to meet the needs of the Valley for many years to come. There are special trauma rooms that are used when someone is transported from an automobile accident or other injury.  There are also two rooms set aside to treat patients suspected of cardiac problems. We work closely with tertiary hospitals in larger communities to quickly transport heart and stroke patients who need further care.

The Emergency Department sees thousands of patients every year. Patients who come into the department for care are promptly screened by a registered nurse to determine the level of care that is needed. The most seriously ill or injured will move to the head of the line if other patients have non-life threatening diagnoses.

From 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily we offer an immediate care service for those with less acute illness. The immediate care portion of our emergency department is staffed by Certified Physician Assistants or Registered Nurse Practitioners who are able to refer to the emergency room medical director if needed.

The physicians in our emergency department are contract employees of a company called Emcare. You should know that you will receive a separate bill from Emcare as part of every emergency room visit.

Please bring your insurance information with you when you come into the department. While no one is every denied care, we want to do everything we can to quickly assure you that your insurance coverage is in place.
