As you approach our department, you will see our beautiful waiting room equipped with a fire place and large windows facing the East. This lovely waiting area is dedicated to Lorene Petrie for her trust's generous gift to our hospital and is open to our visitors during visiting hours (12PM-8PM daily). We have 5 spacious delivery suites, each containing a Jacuzzi tub and everything needed for labor and post partum care for you and your new baby. In most cases, with routine deliveries you will be able to spend your whole time in the same room, but if we get busy, we may have to move you to a different private room. We encourage rooming in with your baby and provide excellent breast feeding support. We will give you the information you need to make informed decisions about you and your baby’s care and support those decisions you make. Our Staff Our nurses are specially trained in Labor and Delivery, post partum and new born care. The majority of our labor and delivery nurses have obtained their specialty certification in Obstetrical nursing. Our staff consists of mainly RNs with LPN's and CNA's also providing you with quality care. All of the current full time staff are certified breast feeding educators We have five Family practice physicians and one OBGYN that deliver here at Sunnyside Community Hospital. We also have a pediatrician available to care for your new baby if you so desire. Individualized Quality Care As an expectant mother, your care will be individualized to meet your needs and desires if possible. The Family Birth Center staff's goal is to provide you with the birth experience that you are hoping for. Your physician and nurse will keep you informed as to the options we offer during your labor, delivery and post partum time. Anesthesia staff is available to help with pain management if the need arises. Childbirth Classes Our childbirth education classes are held monthly.
