We Say Thank you & Farewell to Dr. John Pearson

Today, January 31, marks the conclusion of a 20 year career for Dr. John Pearson at Sunnyside Community Hospital.

Dr. Pearson has accepted a new practice opportunity in Florida.  He will be honored today (1/31) with a luncheon reception from 12:00 until 2:00 in the New Classroom.

Dr. Pearson has been a strong supporter of the community of Sunnyside as well as the hospital.  He is past president of the Hospital Board and also served as Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery.

He has been one of the most active specialists in the hospital and his dedication and commitment to the Lower Valley will be sorely missed.

As we offer our goodbyes to Dr. John Pearson I would like to add my thanks for his support and friendship during the ten years that I have been in the Valley.

I am proud to call Dr. Pearson a friend and colleague.  Whenever I have needed counsel and assistance from a medical staff point of view, Dr. Pearson has been one of the individuals I have relied upon to provide a reasoned and experienced perspective.

Dr. Pearson has always worked with the best interest of the hospital and his patients first at hand.  Urology services have become an integral part of the surgery schedule at SCH thanks to Dr. Pearson.  He will certainly be very difficult to replace, because he has set high standards for care, and because few hospitals or communities our size will support a urology practice.   But, we believe Dr. Pearson's legacy has laid the groundwork for surgery specialties to continue at our hospital.  He has also graciously agreed to provide us a three days of service on a month to month basis as we search for a full time successor.

As we say so long to a fine gentleman, and gifted physician we smile and know that we all have a friend in deed if we ever make a visit to Florida.

Dr. David Jones has been with us nine years and is leaving to work overseas.  Dr. Jones was one of the first new physicians to come into the community after my arrival.  Dr. Jones has been a hard working member of our ER staff for the past five years.  He too, will be remembered, and missed.  Good luck in Kenya Dr. Jones.

I would also like to again note the service of Don Forgey, Diagnostic Imaging, and the other fine folks who were honored in our luncheon Thursday.  Thank you all for your commitment to customer service.
